The Child and Family Guidance Center is currently seeking a full time MCIS Case Manager for our Mobile Crisis Intervention Services team.
The MCIS Case Manager will assist MCIS clinicians in meeting the clinical needs of the families they work with by securing appropriate and necessary services to children ages zero to 18 experiencing a behavioral or mental health crisis. MCIS case manager’s goal is to support MCIS clinicians in serving children in their homes and communities to reduce the number of visits to hospital Emergency Departments and divert them from hospitalization if a lower level of care is a safe and effective alternative.
The selected candidate will be entrusted with the following Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the screening of 211 calls and Outpatient ECC calls as needed, ensuring timely and efficient responses.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of family interactions, support data input and processing, and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Empower families by providing critical information and connecting them with essential services, including transportation, translation, advocacy, educational support, recreational and social resources, and other needed services.
- Collaborate effectively with MCIS clinicians to ensure a seamless transition to long-term services for children and their families, enhancing overall care and support.
- Foster relationships with community agencies, schools, courts, and individuals to strengthen service delivery and support for families.
- Contribute to team discussions by taking detailed and accurate notes during weekly team meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-up.
- Support the program needs by completing administrative tasks as directed by MCIS Leadership, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
- Engage in weekly supervision sessions, receiving performance feedback and guidance to continuously improve skills and impact.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate the following skills:
- Hold a B.S. or B.A. degree, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in Social Work.
- Demonstrate highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Bring a minimum of two years of hands-on experience supporting children and families facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Excel in attention to detail and produce accurate, efficient note-taking abilities.
- Display strong organizational skills, effectively managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and commitment to high-quality service.
- Take initiative and work independently with confidence and accountability.
- Possess a solid understanding of child development and effective parenting strategies.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, with flexibility to travel within the greater Bridgeport and/or Norwalk areas.
- Bring valuable language skills—bilingual candidates (Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole) are strongly encouraged to apply.
