Children’s Center of Wayne County (TCC) The Children’s Center, founded in 1929, provides evidence-based clinical therapy to children who deal with mental, behavioral, emotional, intellectual, and developmental health and educational challenges or may have experienced trauma.  

 

School Community-Based Partnerships: We partner with K-12 schools and community organizations that serve children to provide clinical therapy, counseling, psychological services, and psychiatric evaluations, treatment & interventions.  

 

Child Welfare: In addition to the clinical therapy programs offered, The Children’s Center places children in licensed foster homes, and supports them throughout their time in the child welfare system.  

 

Child Well-being Family Success: We operate an onsite family success center that promotes child-wellbeing and offers children and youth from all walks of life to access relevant mental health crisis prevention and child abuse and neglect prevention services. 

 

Advocacy: We champion child and youth well-being for those experiencing poverty-related issues, those within the child welfare system, and those in need of evidence-based, clinical therapy.

Job Summary 

Oversee operations, processing, recruitment, engagement, and assignment(s) of volunteers at The Children’s Center. Establish recording, recognition, and initiatives to engage and retain individual and corporate volunteers. Work in collaboration with internal and external entities to ensure professional delivery of services with respectful engagement. 

Job Requirements 

  • Ensure volunteer compliance in all areas. 
  • Serve as the primary administrator for Golden.
  • Maintain volunteer postings, job descriptions, profiles, and schedules in Golden.
  • Lead monthly volunteer orientations to ensure volunteers understand compliance requirements, volunteer processes, and agency policies.
  • Conduct criminal history background checks.
  • Manage DHHS clearances, annual performance evaluations and ensure volunteers follow Wayne County guidelines.
  • Recruit, train, place, and manage volunteers in jobs that meet their skill set and interest.
  • Develop and implement volunteer recognition and retention strategies including but not limited to support calls and thank you notes.
  • Serve as the primary supervisor of one day volunteers.
  • Implement and manage an agency wide internal volunteer request process. 
  • Track and report volunteer hours and information as necessary.
  • Provide service letters to volunteers as requested.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedure and process map for volunteer activities.
  • Launch and lead new initiatives that will improve overall program and service delivery
  • Normal volunteer activities may require travel and so incumbents must be able to obtain and maintain reliable transportation at all times.

Essential Functions 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries related to volunteer engagement.
  • Actively schedule corporate and community volunteer “one-day” groups by strategically aligning agency needs with mission driven engagement activities.
  • Actively communicate volunteer needs and opportunities with Philanthropy Team members.
  • Lead large scale volunteer days.
  • Ensure relevant volunteer events and activities are communicated to TCC staff. 
  • Lead all volunteer recruitment, including outreach, presentations, and follow-ups.
  • Serve as relationship manager for assigned volunteer portfolio.
  • Lead and manage event set-up and volunteers for Holiday Shop, Back to School Bazaar, and Trunk or Treat.  
  • Lead in planning and facilitating the Lisa V. Ford Heart & Soul volunteer recognition event.
  • Collaborate with the Consumer Engagement Manager to fill volunteer positions for enrichment events and activities.

KPIs 

  • Onboard a minimum of 30 individual volunteers annually.  
  • Host a minimum of 40 returning volunteer groups annually.  
  • Obtain and track volunteer material deliverables and productivity for improved efficiency.
  • Attend a minimum of four outreach opportunities annually.
  • Facilitate a minimum of 12 tours annually.

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
