Job Summary: The General Accountant is responsible for the general accounting functions with a concentration in grant/fund accounting. Analyze accuracy and completeness of financial information, and preparing timely and accurate invoices for requesting payment from Funders. Also responsible for general ledger transactions with relation to, but not limited to, grant revenue and expenses
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews and verifies accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications including grant records and works out issues with appropriate personnel
- Provide support for Development, Health Education and Operation for Grant reporting as required, including Budget Comparisons.
- Reviews terms and conditions of awarded grants to gain an understanding of the program requirements, time frame, invoice format, and deadlines
- Assists, reviews and ensures accurate computation of pay and interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures
- Assists with month end closings and year-end closing and audits, including grant audits
- Assists in monthly GL reconciliations
- Prepares reports on the financial position of the Grants and variance analysis, and informs program manager of progress and issues
- Prepares and/or assists with the grant budget for new grants
- Assist with TCC’s annual Budgets and Budgeting Process
- Review and Approve monthly and quarterly contract and grant invoices
- Assist with Government Compliance and Reporting
- Maintain Financial Compliance Calendar, Files and Records and ensure timely preparation and submission of all Regulatory Reports (UDS, OSHPD, and Cost Reports. Etc., Etc.)
- Assist with annual Audit Preparation, Schedules and Analysis
- Follows methods or established policies and procedures to maintain the efficiency of the finance department and Recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the Accounting function
- Maintains and protects organization’s confidentiality by keeping information confidential
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or the Director of Finance/CFO
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a progressive, complex and sophisticated accounting environment
- Microsoft Excel experience
- MIP or similar accounting software
- Health care industry experience Preferred
- Able to work well under rigorous deadlines
- Teamwork Oriented
- Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills and an aptitude for communicating with funding staff and across the organization with employees, department managers & directors
- Demonstrates good organizational and time management skills
- Detail oriented and thorough

- Skilled in collecting information, analyzing data, and reporting results
- Good understanding of US GAAP accounting principles
- Good understanding of Internal Controls
- Demonstrate ability to adhere to strict confidentiality
- Knowledge and experience in health care, including third party reimbursement mechanisms and experience with Federal and State guidelines regarding Budgets, Reporting and Compliance – would be very helpful
