Overview
As a Foster Family Trainer, you will play a vital role in providing structured, nurturing, and supportive training to prospective foster parents. Through repeated training, logistics and at-home visits, you will help prospective families establish the necessary skills and knowledge to become licensed foster parents. This rewarding position requires compassion, organization, and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals in the child welfare system. Your commitment will help to ensure there continues to be stable and healthy homes available for the well-being and development of children who may have experienced trauma or instability in their lives.
Responsibilities
- Co-facilitate the Weekend for a Lifetime training curriculum.
- Conduct home-based and office-based family consultations as outlined in the Weekend for a Lifetime curriculum.
- Complete all necessary paperwork associated with the Weekend for a Lifetime curriculum.
- Complete home-studies on prospective foster parents who have completed training and re-approval home studies for existing foster families.
- Coordinate the additional clinical training hours prospective foster parents need to become licensed foster parents.
- Work collaboratively with the Licensing Specialist to ensure that all licensing requirements are met.
- Develop and implement the program’s annual training plan.
- Work collaboratively with the Lead case manager to help facilitate appropriate UC placements with licensed foster families.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or another human service field required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the child welfare system, particularly in the recruitment, training, or licensing of foster parents preferred
- Experience working with immigrant or refugee population preferred
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
Supervisory Responsibility
- None.
Work Environment
- Office-based with a portion of time spent in the community meeting with families.
Expected Hours of Work
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Travel
- In-state travel using own car is required.
