Overview
The role of the Teacher in the Transitional Foster Care Program is primarily responsible for supervising, educating, and supporting unaccompanied children (UC) while they are receiving their educational services. This includes lesson planning, managing classroom behavior, and providing individual support and feedback to the UC and foster families.
Responsibilities
- Prepare lessons, units, and projects to complete learning objectives for UC in the Transitional Foster Care Program (K-12).
- Establish and enforce rules of behavior in the classroom.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs and learning styles of a variety of different students.
- Assist in curriculum development.
- Provide individual support to UC when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field or a bachelor’s degree in education with at least 3 years of teaching experience.
- Initial Educator Certificate.
- ESL Certification.
- Bilingual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with immigrant or refugee populations.
- Master’s degree in education.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per hour
