Overview
The role of the Teacher Assistant in the Transitional Foster Care Program for Unaccompanied Children (CRIS) involves supporting the Teacher(s) by supervising students, assisting in the development and implementation of lesson plans, preparing lesson materials, and helping establish and enforce rules of behavior in the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Work with the teacher to monitor class schedules, ensure lessons, and provide ongoing supervision.
- Assist the teacher with preparing lessons and implementing classroom activities.
- Provide individual (one-on-one) or small group support to children, as assigned.
- Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean.
- Supervise students during non-classroom times, including transitions, bathroom breaks, lunch, recreational and enrichment activities, and dismissals.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Associate of Arts degree or High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with children in a learning environment.
- Bilingual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with immigrant or refugee populations.
