The Children's Home of Easton (CHE) is a non-profit organization founded in 1885 to support children in out-of-home care, many of whom have experienced significant trauma. We provide comprehensive, trauma-responsive services to help each child achieve their goals and reach their full potential. Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Life Skills Coordinator to join our Older Youth team. The coordinator is responsible for assisting older youth clients, between the ages of 16-21, as they work towards self-sufficiency and independence. This position includes organizing and implementing both individual and group life skill trainings, which must be scheduled around the availability of the clients. The coordinator works within a team to support each client's needs and progress toward their individual goals.

The hours of this position are flexible based upon the availability of the clients; however, this is an evening role. Shifts are 8-hours and may range anywhere between 12pm to 10pm. Weekends are not required but may be utilized for lessons/activities as appropriate and when approved. Schedules are made and approved by the Director of Older Youth.

Duties

  • Coordinate the Life Skills Program to assist older youth clients (16-21 years old) in developing their daily living skills, self-care, community/social engagement, communication, housing and money management, career planning, job readiness, and preparation for discharge.
  • Organize and implement creative and dynamic life skill lessons both individually and in group settings, always utilizing trauma-informed principles.
  • Maintain individual case records which includes required personal assessments, detailed documentation of services and activities, and any additional paperwork needed to monitor and track youth’s progress.
  • Support older youth clients in their transition to self-sufficiency and progress toward goals.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with the client's care team which includes the program director, caseworker, county representatives, and other identified supports.

Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Associate’s degree OR 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must accommodate work schedule to meet the availability of the clients.
  • Sound judgement in decision making and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
  • Basic knowledge of trauma-informed care.
  • Strong emotional intelligence which includes self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, social skills, and internal motivation.
  • Ability to adapt readily and multi-task while working within a culture of trauma-informed care.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
