Job Summary
The transportation worker is responsible for the safe transportation of all youth in our care in accordance with the approved transportation schedule. They coordinate school drop-off and pick-up and assist with transportation to appointments and other activities as needed. They maintain all agency vehicles and ensure timely repair and proper routine maintenance. The schedule for this position is M-F, 6:30am-2:30pm.
Duties
- Responsible for the safety and supervision of clients while under their care in a vehicle.
- Must obey all traffic laws and agency policy while operating agency vehicles.
- Responsible for preparing the daily transportation schedule by utilizing the requests submitted by staff.
- Transport each client safely to their appropriate destination.
- Maintain a daily log of trips, including any significant events or unusual incidents as required.
- Responsible for the cleanliness, routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of all agency vehicles.
- Conduct weekly vehicle safety and cleanliness checks, fluid checks, and road test each vehicle.
- Fuel agency vehicles as needed.
- Track and maintain knowledge about each agency vehicle’s location and key fob/folder.
- Communicate consistently and ongoing with the Director of Physical Plant, immediately notifying them of any safety concerns or mechanical issues.
- Responsible for the upkeep of seasonal items needed in each agency vehicle.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or leadership team to assist the organization’s operations, implementation of the mission, and progress towards strategic goals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to manage crisis and emergencies when they arise, in accordance with trauma-informed care principles and all applicable law and policy.
- Strong emotional intelligence including self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and effective communication.
- Ability to adapt readily, multi-task, and work with a diverse group of individuals.
Must be able to obtain all state mandated clearances.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
