The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking a Full-Time Early Childhood Teacher for Child's Way, our daycare center for medically fragile children. Child's Way is open from 6:30am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday. This full-time position works four 10 hour shifts per week. No weekends, nights, or holidays.
Under the supervision of the Education Program Supervisor, the Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child enrolled in accordance with DHS, Head Start, and Keystone Stars Standards. Teachers will work cooperatively with the nurses, therapists, and Early Intervention professionals to provide a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning experience.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Must have attained one of the following qualification levels:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and one year experience with children.
- An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and two years of experience with children.
- An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, or the human services field and three years of experience with children.
- CDA with 2 years of experience working with children or enrolled in a CDA course with 3 years of experience.
2. Ability to organize, prioritize, and communicate appropriately.
3. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively and positively communicate and cooperate with children, family members, physicians, other staff, and visitors.
4. Emotional and mental ability to perform effectively and efficiently under stressful and emergency situations.
5. Cognitive ability to utilize basic knowledge of growth and development in interactions with children and families.
6. Act 33 and 34 clearances, FBI Background check, and NSOR.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED:
1. Three to five years of experience working with children.
2. Prior experience working with children in both childcare and health care.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Functions within patient care, outdoors, facility, and administrative environments.
2. Must be able to successfully obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification.
3. Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 20-70 pounds and 70-100 pounds as required with assistance.
4. Physical ability necessary for prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, and carrying patients, supplies, and equipment.
5. Physical ability to get down on the floor with the children and get back up again.
6. OSHA training and knowledge.
