Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain therapeutic-positive relationships with the children and their families.
- Promote the growth of guardian-child relationship.
- Provide for the safety and well being of the children in care and supervision of their whereabouts, attention to their needs and remembrance of their unique life situation at all times.
- Communicate regularly with the unit supervisor, social worker and medical staff as needed on each child’s progress, behavioral, emotional, and medical needs.
- Provide for the growth and development of each child in care through instructing, counseling and directing them in matters of personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, social skills, school, daily routines and work habits.
- Be responsible for the security of the unit and unit office areas.
- Provide safe and responsible transportation for youth, families, and other Children’s Home affiliates as required by program expectations.
Education:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required
Experience:
- Must have a demonstrated interest in helping and caring for children and adolescents in out-of-home placement and/or attending a special education school.
- A willingness to receive and utilize training and supervision is required.
- Previous experience working in a child welfare, school, or other setting serving at risk children and adolescents is a plus.
- Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required.
- Must be 21 years old or older
