A Brief Overview Under the direction of a supervising physician, the Physician Assistant Resident (PAR) is a trainee in the Neonatology Physician Assistant Residency Program. The Neonatology Physician Assistant Residency Program is a one-year long program that provides mentoring, didactic teaching, simulation skills training, and experience to prepare the PAR to become a competent Neonatal Front Line Clinician. Throughout the program, the PAR will become responsible for the direct care and follow up of a population of patients that match his/her skill set through the designated curriculum and timelines. The components of the role include education, clinical practice, consultation, and professional development. What you will do Under the direct guidance and supervision of the Attending Physician and/or Front Line Clinician: Participates in the Neonatology Physician Assistant Residency Program educational curriculum. Completes evaluations as a measure of competence. Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate educational offerings. As a part of the learning process, will utilize advanced assessment skills to support the management of a cohort of patients. Performs and documents daily assessments. Collects and analyzes data and formulates a family-centered plan of care. Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment plan. As a trainee, works collaboratively to communicate the plan of care and potential changes to this plan to the supervising physician and assigned Front Line Clinician. Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practices to enhance safety. Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms. Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice. Education Qualifications Master's Degree Physician Assistant Required Skills and Abilities Ability to work in a team setting with multiple responsibilities. Ability to use computer and electronic medical records effectively. Licenses and Certifications Licensed Physician Assistant - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required and Licensed Physician Assistant - New Jersey State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required To carry out its mission, CHOP is committed to supporting the health of our patients, families, workforce, and global community.
