A clinical research recruiter is responsible for identifying, screening, and recruiting eligible participants for clinical trials by actively engaging with potential volunteers, providing detailed information about the study, and ensuring they meet the necessary criteria to participate, all while adhering to ethical and regulatory guidelines; essentially playing a critical role in the success of clinical research by building a diverse pool of qualified study participants.
Key responsibilities:
· Participant sourcing:
Actively search for potential participants through various channels including healthcare provider networks, community outreach, patient advocacy groups, online platforms, and advertising.
· Screening and eligibility assessment:
Review medical records, conduct phone interviews, and assess potential participants against the study protocol to ensure they meet inclusion and exclusion criteria.
· Database management:
Maintain a comprehensive database of potential and enrolled participants, tracking their recruitment status and contact information.
· Recruitment strategy development:
Collaborate with the clinical research team to develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to achieve enrollment goals.
· Communication and outreach:
Conduct outreach to healthcare providers, community organizations, and patient groups to promote clinical trials.
· Compliance and regulatory adherence:
Ensure all recruitment activities comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, FDA regulations, and local ethical guidelines.
Required skills and qualifications:
· Strong communication skills:
Ability to clearly explain complex medical information to potential participants and address their concerns.
· Detail-oriented:
Meticulous attention to detail to accurately document participant information and ensure compliance with study protocols.
· Interpersonal skills:
Build rapport with potential participants, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
· Knowledge of medical terminology:
Understanding of basic medical concepts and disease states relevant to the study.
· Recruitment experience:
Prior experience in patient recruitment, preferably within clinical research.
· Computer proficiency:
Familiarity with electronic data capture systems and recruitment databases.
