Associate Pastor
Position Description
Cornerstone Alliance Church (CAC) is currently seeking a candidate who feels called to serve in an Associate Pastor role that focuses on a combination of ministry needs that will include some, but not all, of the following areas: discipleship, youth ministry, worship/music ministry, pastoral ministry. As a growing church of approximately 300 attendees, we have lots of service opportunities in an exciting time of expansion. The candidate should be able to express a calling to serve in a medium sized, rural Iowa community of 13,000 people.
This is a full-time salary position. Salary commensurate with experience.
CAC will use the term “pastor” for this position if and when a staff member meets elder qualifications and is appointed as an elder.
Qualifications for the Position
- A mature Christian modeling I Timothy 3:1-7 (Elder qualities) and Galatians 5:22-23 (Fruit of the Spirit) character.
- A passion for ministry and an ability to articulate God’s calling.
- Proven ability to recruit and lead an adult volunteer staff.
- Effective in communicating God's Word to a wide range of audiences.
- Working knowledge of and ability to use technology in necessary areas.
- Accredited Official Worker of the C&MA.
- Licensed or willing to be licensed by The Christian and Missionary Alliance. (see https://madcma.org/steps-to-getting-licensed/ for more information)
- Agreement with The Christian & Missionary Alliance doctrine and mission.
- Prior ministry experience and education preferred.
Primary Responsibilities (The candidate chosen will fulfill some but not all of following responsibilities.)
- Develop, implement and oversee the ministry to CAC students in grades 5-12.
- Provide training, support, and encouragement to youth leaders.
- Coordinate and supervise youth activities including weekly gatherings, conferences, mission trips, and service opportunities.
- Lead a group to the Life Conference once every three years.
- Develop student leaders who actively participate in youth functions and outreach.
- Coordinate and lead adult worship teams for Sunday services.
- Develop, support, and encourage worship team volunteers through training and Bible study.
- Be willing to be trained by lead pastor into doing wedding services and funerals for congregants.
- Collaborate and serve with all ministry staff.
- Coordinates with the Lead Pastor and Elder board in the development of discipleship in the assigned area of responsibility.
- Participate in Sunday morning responsibilities as assigned.
- Participate in pulpit supply when requested.
- Participate in staff meetings and pastoral functions as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
- Attend and serve at “all-church” events.
- Attend monthly board meetings.
- Attend bi-weekly elder meetings once the title of “pastor” has been given.
- Reports to the Lead Pastor
- Accountable to Lead Pastor and CAC Elders on all ministry initiatives
