Associate Pastor of Next Generation Ministries

Alliance Bible Church in Waco, TX (ABC Waco) is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor who is committed to cultivating the next generation of Christ-followers through faithful discipleship of our youth (junior high and high school), oversight of our Children’s ministries (infant through middle school), and collaboration with parents and leaders of the church.

Church Overview

ABC Waco is part of the Alliance South Central District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. The church currently has about 90 members and an average Sunday attendance of 125. 33 volunteers serve the approximately 50 children who participate in ABC’s Next Gen ministries. Of these, about a dozen participate in the Youth program. ABC Waco exists as a community where people can know and experience God, belong and be loved, and make a difference in Waco and the world.

Qualifications

? Candidates must demonstrate a mature faith in God and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; they must be “above reproach” in their personal lives (1 Tim 3:2) and committed to developing their gifts and growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ (2 Pet 3:18).

? Candidates must demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit when dealing with others (Gal 5:22-23).

? Candidates must demonstrate a calling to Next Gen ministries; specifically, they must possess the gifts necessary for casting and implementing a Christ-centered vision for Next Gen ministries, discipling young people, organizing people and events, preparing budgets and responsibly stewarding finances, and communicating effectively with parents, staff, and the church as a whole.

? Candidates must be able to effectively teach and preach the truth of God’s Word to diverse age groups.

? Candidates must be able to affirm the doctrinal statement of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. If they have not already been ordained in the Alliance, they must be willing to work toward licensing and ordination and complete the process within 2-3 years.

? The ideal candidate will have some experience in Next Gen ministries; if he does not already hold a Master of Divinity, he should be willing to work toward one (or its equivalent) from an accredited seminary.

Specific Duties

? Plan and lead a weekly program for youth (middle school and high school students) on Wednesday evenings and teach a youth class on Sunday mornings during Sunday school.

? Plan and lead two youth retreats per year, as well as occasional fundraisers and trips.

? Work with the ASC District and members of ABC Waco to plan, recruit volunteers, and oversee Kid’s Camp in each summer.

? Engage in strategic planning for the Youth program, including casting a vision for the year and preparing and administering a budget.

? Communicate regularly with parents of youth.

? Oversee and coordinate the volunteers leading the various children’s ministries, including Children’s Church, nursery, children’s and youth Sunday school, AWANA, VBS, Kid’s Camp.

? Work with lay volunteers to develop and implement a strategic vision for discipling the next generation, from infants to adulthood.

? Preach during Sunday morning worship service an average of 12 times per year.

? Become a member of ABC Waco and regularly participate in Sunday morning worship services.

? Keep regular office hours at the church and attend meetings as necessary.

? Assist the Senior Pastor with administrative and pastoral duties as necessary.

Salary and Benefits

? This is a full-time position requiring an average of 40-50 hours per week.

? Salary and benefits are negotiable and commensurate with education and experience.
