Lead global mechanical engineering initiatives to develop sustainable, cost-effective solutions that support the design, construction, and operation of temple and supporting facilities mechanical systems. This role is instrumental in ensuring the standards of efficiency, reliability, and sustainability, directly contributing to the mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—bringing temples to God’s children worldwide. Through strategic leadership and collaboration with internal teams, consultants, and contractors, this position enhances the sacred function of temples by ensuring optimal mechanical system performance.

Responsibilities
Engineering Strategy & Execution
- Provide technical support in the design, implementation, and optimization of mechanical and plumbing systems across global properties
- Ensure projects align with local practices, sustainability goals
- Develop and analyze building load heatmaps, energy strategies, and cost-saving initiatives
- Research and implement international mechanical and plumbing codes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and temple standards
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical system inefficiencies, providing actionable recommendations
- Oversee risk mitigation strategies for engineering projects and ensure adherence to quality benchmarks
- D rive advancements in mechanical engineering by leveraging emerging technologies, data analytics, and automation to enhance building performance
- Refine Building Management System (BMS) controls, optimizing energy conservation and operational efficiency
- Identify opportunities for modularization, prefabrication, and innovative mechanical solutions that simplify and enhance temple facilities
- Conduct in-depth technical reviews of construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure project viability and efficiency
- Develop strategies to reduce costs while maintaining the highest standards of mechanical engineering integrity
- Review contractor estimates and support stakeholder expectations regarding budget and scope
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers, manufacturers, consultants, and project stakeholders
- Lead discussions and negotiations regarding mechanical system implementations and long-term operational sustainability
- Provide training and mentorship to internal teams, ensuring alignment with industry advancements and best practices
- Conduct site visits to assess system performance, verify compliance with engineering standards, and provide technical oversight
- Produce detailed reports on system efficiency, lifecycle management, and recommended improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data integration through predictive analytics, trend analysis, and performance benchmarking
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to facility operations, and system performance
- Utilize data-driven insights to recommend strategic improvements to mechanical and facility management systems
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture by promoting clear communication and shared goals
- Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, transparency, and mutual support in achieving project objectives
- Lead team meetings, presentations, and training sessions to drive engagement and knowledge-sharing
- Act as a key liaison between engineering, operations, and executive leadership to facilitate seamless collaboration
- Cultivate a positive work environment that values teamwork, integrity, and professional development
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering OR 10 years of commercial HVACexperience with 5 years in system design
- Experience: 5 years of direct commercial HVAC mechanical engineering experience or equivalent field expertise
- Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced knowledge of global engineering design principles, energy modeling, and system optimization
- Strong capabilities in cost estimation, contract interpretation, and troubleshooting complex mechanical issues
- Expertise in Heat Load Modeling, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, ACC, and cloud-based collaboration tools
