What are the responsibilities and job description for the Language Resource Coordinator (Fixed-term) position at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
Based at Church Headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Language Resource Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the work of translation and interpretation, including scripture, temple, and hymns, across multiple languages, with a focus on finding and onboarding new members to various teams (translators, reviewers, interpreters, etc.). This may include contacting and communicating with local leadership, arranging interviews and workshops, facilitating the contracting process, and ensuring that recruitment and financial processes are consistent and adhered to.
This is a fixed-term U.S.-based remote position.
- Support the work of linguists as they oversee the translation and interpretation of Church materials.
- Gather referrals for potential candidates through various communication channels.
- Arrange and facilitate individual and group interviews with potential candidates worldwide.
- Coordinate the onboarding process of independent contractors and volunteers.
- Facilitate invoice-related discussions between resources and Headquarters employees.
- Provide reporting for process adherence and project commitments.
- Ensure that coordination and support processes are streamlined and consistent across projects.
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in linguistics, translation, communications, or a related field) with at least 6 years of related experience.
- 1 year of experience in project management or a related field.
- Familiarity with talent management, including recruitment.
- Mastery of spoken and written English and excellent cross-cultural communication skills.
- Proven skills in project management, time management, professional communication, coaching, problem-solving, and working under pressure.
- Ability and willingness to regularly work outside of business hours to support global projects.
- Ability to interact with employees and contractors to help ensure that projects are completed on time and according to specifications.
- Ability to provide basic technical support to translation and business management system users.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, video conferencing, and messaging software.
- Knowledge of Church doctrine, policies, and ecclesiastical organization.
