Job Description
This position prepares the way of salvation and exaltation by making essential gospel teachings, resources, and services accessible to all of God’s children. This position fosters an environment of reverence and respect for customers and ensures a productive and Christlike environment for the staff. This is a lead clerical position which works under minimal supervision and acts as a mentor and guides the work of other staff members. This role is intended to be used in larger distribution stores with $750k revenue annually and regular part-time/full-time salesclerk staff of three or more. This role is used in the Salt Lake City, Centerville, and Provo/BYU distributions stores and may be considered for use in other larger stores. The incumbent of this role must be endowed and hold a current recommend.
This is a full-time fully benefited non-exempt position.

Responsibilities
- Directs all store operations for a very small store or supports a supervisor 2 in very large store.
- Acts in a leadership capacity, assigning and directing the work of other staff members, and provides training and development for the store’s staff
- Provides feedback and coaching to employees
- Helps prepare staff members’ weekly schedules and assignment of daily tasks
- Greets customers and ascertains customers’ needs
- Provides high-quality customer service, providing product knowledge to assist customers, and assists in motivating others to do the same
- Develops understanding of contents and/or properties of all products to adequately serve customers
- Responds to customer questions regarding curriculum, proper fitting of clothing or issues of similar complexity, and interests with customers to resolve concerns of moderate to high complexity
- May provide personal fitting consultation to customers at distribution store
- Operates point-of-sale terminal, finalizes sale of selected products, processes returns, and manages register opening and closing process
- Oversees or assists store supervisor to ensure the store is attractively displayed, well-presented, and that there is adequate inventory on the shelf
- Oversees or supports all aspects of inventory receiving and counting, assures the inventory on the floor is adequate to meet customer needs, and assists in ordering and replenishment to ensure proper stock levels
- Maintains awareness of and helps with the attainment of key performance indicators, including: inventory goals, expense goals, sales goals, and exceptional customer service
- May provides back-up support on behalf of store leadership during absence, or when needed, which may include payroll and timekeeping duties
- May perform and/or oversee housekeeping duties to ensure facility, equipment, and storage areas are in good condition
- Ability to work as scheduled and needed (including Saturdays and holidays)
- Assists in other operational responsibilities, as needed
- Two years post high school education in business, retailing, merchandising or related field, and two years experience in business, retail, customer service or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience leading the work of others
- Ability to complete internal customer service training within one month of hire
- Functional understanding of computer applications, including: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, or related programs
- Proficient use of point-of-sale systems and terminology, and ability to troubleshoot basic technical systems and tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively address questions and issues
- Ability to lead, delegate, and direct the work of others
- This position operates in a retail environment
- To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met, such as: standing for long periods of time, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds
