Job Description
A System Engineer 2 is an intermediate-level, professional position responsible for the systems and infrastructure that support a set of products. The System Engineer participates in project implementation. The individual generally helps maintain these systems on a day-to-day basis and implements monitors for end-user-impacting issues. This role responds to escalated service requests and participates in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule. This role implements approved production changes and participates in incident resolution. Other operational and engineering duties as required by the Portfolio.
This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.

Responsibilities
This position is a career level professional that provides advanced support for a broad range of technical issues, and promptly responds to, escalates, and resolves incidents and monitoring alerts
Manages and resolves escalated IT incidents and service requests
Collaborates with IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of new technologies
Maintains and updates IT documentation, including knowledge base articles and technical guides
Works with monitoring technologies to provide early warning notice of problems or issues
Analyzes current operation processes and implements improvements
Understands policies, standards, and processes, and educates others
Participates in continual learning and improvement
Fulfill service requests
Perform approved, scheduled maintenance according to a documented change plan
Qualifications
Hold a valid temple recommend
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
Current or previous professional experience in an IT-related role
Knowledge of Windows and Linux server operating systems, some server and cloud application platforms, end-user applications
Strong knowledge of Cloud technology principles
Strong knowledge of DevSecOps principles
Knowledge of monitoring software used to detect issues and problems
Knowledge of enterprise IT processes and governance
Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with customers at the highest levels of the Church
Understand and articulate business problems in both business and technical terms
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
