Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a Maternity Leave Replacement for an Upper School Science Assistant Teacher for 11th grade chemistry for the 2024-2025 school year for an immediate start.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
- Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Support with planning science curriculum, lessons, and assignments
- Support with attendance each period
- Support with maintaining gradebook
- Support with writing student progress reports
- Work collaboratively with team members
- Support students by
- Scaffolding in-class assignments, tasks and projects
- Developing critical thinking, problem solving skills and tools to become self advocates and productive learners
- Utilizing multimodal methods of teaching
- Assess student work and participation
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
- BA or BS Degree (Degree in Education, Special Education, Science or related field preferred)
- Knowledge of general science including chemistry concepts
- Experience working with, mentoring, supervising and/or building positive relationships with children
- Ability to work comfortably with a team
- Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective teaching strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities
- Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology in the classroom
- Interest in professional career development in the field of special education
- Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
- 45K-53K commensurate with experience
