The Cincinnati Insurance Companies' Personal Lines department is seeking an underwriting manager in our Gilbert, Arizona office.
Starting pay : The pay range for this position is $75,000 - $135,000 annually. Pay is based on the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Be Ready To
- handle performance management, including all performance reviews and feedback, goal tracking, measurement of metric performance and HR-related issues
- provide underwriting mentoring and development, including coaching, risk collaboration, decision-making guidance, assessment of communication skills, overall territory management and agency underwriting
- provide territory management, including management of overall territory profitability and growth; identification of agencies underperforming from either a growth or profitability perspective and development of specific plans to address those concerns
- manage production meetings, including preparations of meeting materials that will be reviewed, overall territory performance, identification of key state issues, determination of agencies for discussion, follow up on action items from meetings
- collaborate with field representatives and offer relationship management, including regular communication with field representatives regarding overall state/territory issues and specific agency issues
- guide change management, including communication about reason for change, support of change initiatives, implementation of changes, monitoring activity to determine if changes are being executed
- manage agency customer service, including solicitation of feedback from agency and field staff
- foster teamwork mentality of underwriters, coordinating agency travel, establishing regular communication with key agency relationships
- participate in departmental support activities, including special projects and task forces
- ability to multitask; time management and organizational skills
- effective motivator
- well-developed communication skills; able to effectively interact with agents, team members, management and field marketing representatives (verbal and written)
- strong knowledge of:
- our technology systems, including a keen understanding of agency interaction and use of these systems and underwriting processes
- coverage forms and ability to interpret coverage language
- product and coverage advantages and ability to communicate those advantages to both internal and external audiences
Bring education and experience from:
- a minimum of five years of personal lines underwriting experience
- the AINS designation
