JOB TITLE - Head Men’s Basketball Coach, The City College of New York
POSITION DETAILS
● Take and pass the NCAA Division Rules Test
● Comply with all paperwork for eligibility of student-athletes within the NCAA, CUNYAC, and any other league
● Works closely with the Athletic Director, keeping him/her abreast of all planning, organizing, staff, and development of all aspects of the program
● Assist the Athletic Director with managing the program's budget and fundraising initiatives
● Ability to identify, develop, and manage assistant coaching staff
● Attend all athletic department staff meetings and development sessions
● Work with the Athletic Staff to monitor the progress of student-athletes
● Support the academic development and graduation of student-athletes
● Responsible for operating a college van, transporting student-athletes to all away games
● Assisting in the development and implementation of the CCNY sports performance program
● Plan, organize, develop, and provide sports performance services in accordance with current evidence-based practices for CCNY student-athletes
● Work to assist CCNY student-athletes in reaching peak performance through strength training, nutrition, and or sports psychology
● Builds and maintains effective relationships with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and faculty
● Complete other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
POSITION OVERVIEW
● Assists in developing and implementing varsity sports program(s)
● Recruit local and national high school and junior college prospective student-athletes
● Participate in CCNY admissions and networking events
● Prepares and conducts daily practice
● Prepares season game schedule
● Performs duties in compliance with NCAA rules and policies as well as College and University policy - Supervises study activities for student-athletes and monitors academic progress reports
● Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of other programs and services for varsity teams and the general student body.
● Performs related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience are required. Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to operate institutional vans.
