Position Summary:
Assists in case management tasks, such as intakes, referrals, and meeting with youth and moms.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Essential Job Functions:
- Shadow and observe Youth Program Caseworker in intake assessments and meetings with youth.
- After a period of observation and training, will conduct intakes, assessments, teach SELF curriculum, and meet with youth to develop and create goals.
- Build quality, caring relationships with children and families to enhance the overall effectiveness of programming.
- Assist in the work of childcare and youth programming as needed, supervising recreational activities, planning special events, enforcing rules, developing relationships, leading activities, and ensuring safety.
- Perform data entry to record and compile data from childcare and youth programming for the monthly statistical report.
- Assist the Youth Program Caseworker in identifying resident needs and communicating resources.
- Assist in special project assignments as needed.
Skills/Abilities (required unless noted):
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative.
- Excellent communication skills with youth, parents, staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Ability to be patient and understanding when working with youth and interacting with parents.
- Experience working with youth is preferred.
- Ability to cope with a stressful environment.
