About our opportunity:
We invite you to apply to join our team as a full-time Labor Crew Supervisor with the Public Works Department, Downtown Beautification Unit. The purpose of this position is to perform seasonal Mowing, Weed Eating, graffiti removal on COA property, Barricade placement for Events and Sidewalk Snow removal and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have some experience managing a crew while completing maintenance projects on roadways, and sidewalks. Candidates must also have a valid Commercial Driver's License to be considered for this position.
What you'll be doing:- Directs, supervises and participates with assigned labor crews in performance of a variety of maintenance and/or construction work. Inspects work to ensure completion in accordance with established specifications, standards and deadlines.
- Administers or makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraising and disciplining, etc. Submits records and reports as required by City management.
- Monitors and tracks subordinate work time, including overtime; prepares overtime requests as required. Works overtime in order to complete an ongoing project or in case of emergency.
- Assigns crew members to various work tasks; trains work crew members, as necessary.
- Monitors materials used on work sites, including costs, quantity and surcharges.
- Operates and trains crew to operate various heavy and light equipment, hand tools and other necessary equipment.
- Ensures proper allocation of equipment, tools, supplies and materials to complete assigned work; oversees and participates in operation and minor maintenance/ repair of tools and equipment.
- Prepares and maintains records of daily work crew activities; meets with work crew to advise of project requirements and status.
- Confers with City residents to receive and respond to work requests, inquiries, complaints and scheduling of a facility. Advises subordinates and/or superiors of residents' concerns.
- Sidewalk snow removal as required.

About you:
We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Three (3) years of related experience with construction including work zone safety, roadways, and sidewalks.
- At least one year of supervisory experience is required.
Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B with ability to obtain Class A within 90 days of hire).
