JOB SUMMARY
Under the immediate direction of the Parks Superintendent, the Seasonal Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance of Parks facilities and grounds.
SUPERVISION
RECEIVES direct supervision from the Parks Superintendent.
EXERCISES no supervision.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Safety
- Operate tools and machinery in a safe and effective manner while utilizing the proper use of your PPE’s, (Personal Protective Equipment).
Splash Pad Maintenance
- General cleaning and maintenance of the facility to include restrooms, pavilions, playground and water pad area.
- Inspect for damaged or broken features and report any items that need attention to your supervisor immediately.
Parks Grounds Maintenance
- Maintain various parks grounds as needed, including mowing of grass, trimming trees and brush, emptying trash cans, and other landscape maintenance duties as required.
Right of Way Maintenance
- Mowing, weed trimming and general trash clean up along various roadways throughout the City.
Equipment Maintenance
- General equipment cleaning and routine maintenance to include adding grease when needed and checking the oil and other safety checks each day.
Other Duties
- Various other duties to include but not limited to athletic field maintenance and event preparation and clean up.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:
A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Requires experience in performing manual labor.
Knowledge of:
- Operation of basic lawn care equipment.
- Safety measures as it relates to hand tools and parks maintenance tools.
Skills and Abilities:
- Withstand possible excessive heat temperature conditions as it relates to the local weather.
- Work in variable weather conditions, including rain, wind, and fluctuating temperatures.
- Communicate clear and concise oral instructions.
- Exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff.
- Act quickly and calmly in emergencies.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Use small hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms.
- With training, operate power tools such as mowers, trimmers, and other small power tools.
- Climb up and down a ladder safely.
- Must have personal transportation to and from work.
- Be punctual and regular in attendance.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Texas driver’s license, with a good driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND CONDITIONS
- Work is performed in an outdoor environment.
- May be subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, entering closed spaces, climbing ladders, and lifting.
- May be exposed to moving traffic, extreme weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, fumes, heights, confined spaces, trenches, air and water borne pathogens, body fluids, infectious diseases, rodents, insects, and snakes.
