Customer Service

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Customer Service Representative to join our team. In this role, you will provide customer service to internal and external customers providing exceptional service and support. Your primary responsibility will be to read electric and water meters; check meters to see that they are functioning properly; checks low water pressure and leaks; and delivers interdepartmental correspondence to and from other city departments.

Duties

• Accurately read water and electric meters and record utility usage on standardized forms with within the handheld reading units.
• Check for proper water meter operation and report any suspected problems
• Notify customers of unusual increases in utility usage when performing read ins and read outs.
• Check for low water pressure and leaks.
• Check for proper meter operation and report any suspected problems
• Respond to customer questions and complaints.
• Must be able to work independently.

Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office software
• Use of voltage and amperage meters, hand and power tools
• Thorough knowledge of local geography and locations of utility lines and meter installations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• A proactive approach to identifying customer needs and providing solutions.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma, 2-4 years' experience in customer service and/or reading meters, or an equivalent combination or education and experience; valid Ohio driver's license.
• Ability to perform varying degrees of physically demanding work for short periods of time under varying weather conditions and around noxious odors, fumes, noises, and in confined spaces.

Pay: $20.61 - $24.60 per hour
