Job Description:
Performs general office duties for the Municipal Court Division
Examples of Duties:
- Responsible for record checks made especially at the court, responding to, maintaining and preparing disposition requests and files.
- Coordinates with the Police Department and Legal Department on records check requests.
- Performs general office tasks that include providing in person customer service to attorneys and members of the public and answering telephones.
- Reads, stamps, and routes incoming mail and collects and distributes incoming fax transmissions.
- Ensures outgoing external mail is stamped and that postage machine is operating efficiently at all times.
- Assists Senior Docket Clerks and Docket Clerks and bailiffs as needed, including assisting in researching and processing motions to reopen cases and making copies of correspondence or other materials.
- Attends staff meetings, prepares reports upon request.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
High school (or GED) and three (3) years of clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Paraprofessional experience in courtroom setting or law office preferred.
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
