Job Description:
This role will support the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS) by collecting, maintaining, updating, and analyzing spatial data.
Examples of Duties:
- Updates and maintains GIS data using Esri’s ArcGIS Pro software, Microsoft Access and other related software.
- Collects and validates data in the field.
- Creates maps, reports, and performs spatial analyses.
- Assist in developing and maintaining GIS applications and web-based mapping solutions.
- Ensure data quality standards using data validation and quality assurance methods.
- Reviews plans, assigns, and verifies addresses.
- Performs other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with at least 1 year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS software.
- Experience creating and editing GIS data.
- Proficient in technical cartographic skills.
- Familiarity with data conversion using Microsoft Access or Excel.
- Demonstrated motivation and ability to learn new technologies/skills with minimal oversight.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in editing GIS data in a versioned multiuser environment.
- Experience manipulating data with model builder and/or Python
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
