Job Description:
In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and manage the City of Charleston Homeownership Initiative and various housing development programs and projects as assigned.
Examples of Duties:
- Provides day-to-day administration, coordination and management of the Homeownership Initiative and assigned housing programs.
- Negotiates property acquisitions, condemnations and other property transactions.
- Coordinates the appropriate property transfer processes including, appraisals, surveys, legal services, preparing transfer and development agreements and closing documents, etc.
- Provides technical assistance and pre-qualifies applicants for homeownership opportunities.
- Coordinates the marketing of homes including developing and monitoring the strategic marketing plan,
- Liaises with the non-profit and for-profit partners in the administration of the Homeownership Initiative and other tasks related to Housing Development.
- Performs necessary administrative work including processing vendor payments, preparing required reports, review and process applications, writing grant applications, creating promotional materials, etc.
- Manages contractual agreements for vendor secured to implement various facets of the Homeownership Initiative.
- Conducts annual monitoring of multi-family rental projects funded by the City to various for-profits and non-profit organizations.
- Conducts financial analyses of various projects to ascertain funding requirements necessary to complete projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) and 2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in real estate development and property management.
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
