Job Description:
In this role, you will be responsible for the operation of motor equipment that does not require a commercial driver’s license for the construction, repair and maintenance of municipal rights-of-way and drainage systems.
Examples of Duties:
- Drives and operates motor equipment such as side cutters, pickup trucks, rollers or any dump truck with a combined weight not exceeding 26,000lbs.
- Completes work orders and daily worksheets.
- Performs daily maintenance on equipment operated and maintains records of such maintenance.
- Operates other heavy equipment such as backhoe or front-end loader when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1.5 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid state issued driver’s license.
- Must complete and pass city vehicle operation and safety training which includes air brakes within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with air brakes.
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
