In this role, you will operate the: law enforcement computer database, records management systems, municipal call and fax system, service desk after-hours, radio transmitter and receiver, and telephone switchboard.
Examples of Duties:
- Continuously monitor, enter, clear, locate, cancel, second party check, and modify wanted persons, missing persons, articles, guns, vehicles and license plates in the law enforcement sensitive NCIC database and the records management system (RMS).
- Enter, modify, and clear repossessed, stolen, recovered, and towed vehicles within NICB and RMS.
- Receive, respond, and handle both urgent and routine hits (YR/YQ) relating to wanted persons, articles, vehicles, and guns.
- Correctly read, understand, and communicate the contents of a NCIC III criminal history for use in packages, officer safety issues, crime enhancements, and other processes requiring NCIC restricted information.
- Create, modify, and produce arrest reports utilized for bond and court package creating and distribution.
- Conduct various audits of the multiple databases and computer systems as well as validations of NCIC records as related to the position.
- Coordinate with other law enforcement agencies and dispatch officers relating to extradition of warrants captures.
- Monitor police radio traffic, dispatch information as required, and continually regulate communication on the dedicated NCIC Operations radio channel.
- Maintain, disseminate, control, perform in-house warrant checks, and issue warrants for the Police Department on a continual basis.
- Collect, disseminate, and file all necessary paperwork to support NCIC documents.
- Collect criminal, applicant, juvenile, and elimination fingerprints and related information for AFIS, NCIC, and RMS entry.
- After hours, respond to information requests, monitor, secure, and cover the department’s front desk personnel during non-business hours.
- Respond and disseminate information to government and various law enforcement agencies upon requests.
- Receives incoming police calls by telephone, electronic messaging, or text and notifies consolidated dispatch for police response.
- Operate as the primary back-up NCIC communications unit for the county-wide consolidated dispatch division.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
- Associate’s degree (AA/AS) or equivalent in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to pass/attain NCIC certification within 3 months of hire.
- Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word, or similar software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of related experience and/or training
Other Necessary Requirements:
- All qualified applicants must possess a clean criminal history and successfully complete the following: polygraph test, drug screening, and background investigation where applicable.
- All sworn and certain civilian positions will also be required to successfully complete a psychological evaluation, and oral board interview.
