JOB SUMMARY
To work in the area of general park maintenance, construction, carpentry, facility repairs, and equipment operation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Properly maintain and care for mechanical rooms at McNaughton Spray Park, Pierre Moran Pool, and NIBCO Ice & Water Park.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all types of building repair and maintenance tasks.
- Work weekends and flex hours.
- Operate Zamboni.
- Other Maintenance duties as may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have a valid operator license according to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- High School education or equivalent, technical/trade school training in relevant field and three years experience in construction and/or building repairs.
- Knowledge and skills in using materials, tools, and equipment required in construction and building repairs.
- Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports.
- Knowledge of personal computers.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, understands, and follow blue prints.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
- Ability to lift 100 pounds and maneuver 200 pounds on a regular basis.
- Work out doors year-round.
- Work with potentially hazardous equipment and tools.
- Work in confined spaces and up to 40 feet above the ground.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work outside year-round. Temperature extremes are: summer 95 degrees and winter -10 degrees. There is exposure to dirt, dust, snow, rain, and noise, equipment movement and vibrations, hazardous chemicals and electrical shock.
DRUG TEST REQUIRED
The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore, a post offer, pre-employment drug screen is required. Random drug testing may be conducted after employment.
