JOB SUMMARY
Provide administration supervision of the city’s primary downtown asset, The Lerner Theatre. Responsible for internal development initiatives, supervising and orchestrating city resources, programming events for The Lerner Theatre and supervising a team of support professionals for The Lerner Theatre.
PRINCIPAL/OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement the organization's strategic plan, including budgets, policies, and operating plans.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations, including finance, marketing, development, and staff management.
- Maintain compliance with all City regulations and work with external partners effectively.
- Manage resources and staff in accordance with organizational chart.
- Schedule all related Theatre functions, including theatre events, showing the facility and discussing technical aspects of the facility with prospective clients.
- Responsible for planning and implementation of all fundraising and development activities to achieve sponsorship and donation goals for The Lerner Theatre. This position is responsible for leading efforts to forge new relationships with the goal of increasing financial resources for the financial growth of the theatre.
- Coordination of all strategies and activities for internal donor cultivation, solicitation, and sponsorships.
- Research and contact new or potential corporate, foundation, government, and individual donors.
- Negotiate facility contracts and conduct or oversee show closings with Promoters and Presenters, and all Lerner Space Renters consistent with LGB guidelines and policies.
- Contact prospective clients regarding their continued or future use of the facility.
- Oversee the collection and disbursement of funds related to facility events in accordance with approved accounting procedures.
- Provide strategic planning of The Lerner Theatre brand as a destination venue, including local/regional marketing.
- Maintain obtainable history for the purpose of capturing meaningful trends.
- Seek and communicate to the Lerner Governing Board potential funding partners and collaborative relationships.
- Provide supervisory support over Lerner operations and departments.
- Manage and promote a full, diverse, and profitable programing mix via relationships with artists, agencies, promoters and presenters. Maintain advance awareness of the Midwest markets for routing opportunities.
- Report to and support programming and fundraising needs of The Friends of The Lerner, Inc.
- Work as a constructive collaborator with house catering and resident theatre partners
- Plan and implement capital projects for Lerner Theatre by recommending projects based on facility needs,
requesting and evaluating bids from third party contractors,
assessing budget implications.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in working leadership role with focus on events, team building, yield management and customer service, etc.
- Creativity in promotions.
- Fundraising and grant writing experience is a plus.
- Good public relations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- The ability to multi-task, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure are imperative.
- Requires self-direction, strong organizational skills and a courteous demeanor always.
- Must demonstrate the ability to listen and work well with varying levels of administration, staff, downtown stake holders, volunteers, citizens and tenants.
- Proficiency in the latest versions of Microsoft office, email and web searches.
- Able to understand and grow existing systems functionality and develop tools for reporting and historical tracking,
etc.
- History of successful team building, delegation and follow through.
- Ability to deal effectively, courteously and efficiently with fellow workers, staff, and general public.
- Knowledge of accounting as it relates to promoter, facility and reposting needs.
- Knowledgeable and comfortable with all facets of public speaking
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
- Must be able work extended hours.
- Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. Ability to multitask is imperative.
- Guest centric attitude. Understanding the position requires both physical and emotional labor.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Indoor and outdoor work locations, fast paced, largely volunteer supported work environment, large percentage of workload is deadline sensitive. Potential for long days, emergency on call and weekends.
