JOB SUMMARY
The Parks Concessions Attendant is responsible for operating and managing concession stands within the park facilities. This position involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving concession items, maintaining cleanliness in concession areas, and handling cash transactions accurately. The Concessions Attendant plays a key role in enhancing the overall park experience for visitors.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide friendly and courteous customer service to park visitors.
- Assist patrons in making selections and answer any questions about the concession offerings.
- Prepare and serve concession items such as snacks, beverages, and light meals.
- Ensure that food items meet quality and safety standards.
- Accurately handle cash transactions, process payments, and provide correct change.
- Keep a secure and organized cash register.
- Maintain clear communication with other staff members and supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and safe area.
- Monitor and replenish concession inventory as needed.
- Report low stock levels and assist with restocking supplies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school education or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- First aid certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
- Must be able to do arithmetic, calculations, and balancing of the drawer at the end of the shift.
- Customer service experience is a plus.
- Ability to work with people and calm/deescalate tense situations when necessary.
- Must be able to effectively prioritize daily work functions.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
- Must have the ability and history of remaining calm and rational when confronted with stressful or volatile situations.
- Must have a positive demeanor when in contact with the public.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work environment is generally performed in an indoor setting. Cashiers will typically work afternoon hours and weekends. Occasionally hours will be extended to cover Parks and Recreation programs or private rentals. Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time.
POST OFFER TESTING REQUIRED
- The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore, successfully passing a post offer drug screen is required (random drug testing may be conducted after employment).
- Background checks producing acceptable BMV and criminal history reports required.
