(9 month position)
$25.22- $30.63/hr plus benefits
The City of Everett Parks Department is currently accepting applications for Seasonal Golf Maintenance Technician. This employment will not exceed nine months in duration. It is mandatory that the employee in this position contribute to the Washington State Public Employees Retirement System. This contribution is refundable upon request at the completion of employment. These positions are provided with pro-rated City of Everett benefits. This job classification is represented by Everett Municipal Employees Local 113, AFSCME.
NATURE OF WORK
The Golf Course Maintenance Lead Day Laborer performs a variety of physical tasks involved in the maintenance of golf courses and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Golf and Athletics Supervisor or designee, although actual work assignments and review may be exercised by higher level parks personnel. The Golf Course Maintenance Lead Day Laborer may supervise other seasonal employees. Many duties are performed independently to conform to prescribed standards. The work includes responsibility for observation, decision making, recording, and repair of damage to the golf course.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
An employee in this position performs routine seasonal maintenance of golf course, picks up litter and garbage, maintaining a tournament quality image; mows, prepares course for play, sprays, loads, hauls, fertilizes, aerates and performs other related turf cultural practices. Makes repairs, cleans, refurbishes and rebuilds turf equipment, irrigation and sprayer apparatus. Maintains work records, time sheets and spray records. Operates various equipment like light-duty trucks, tractors, front-end loaders, dump bed trucks (both 3 and 5 yard), single and multiple gang mowers, back hoes, sprayers, aerators and other related equipment,. Performs other related work as required.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- The following knowledge, skills and abilities are considered critical to successful performance in this position:
- Considerable knowledge of turf management cultural principles, practices, and equipment.
- Knowledge and experience in working with turf irrigation.
- Knowledge of safety precautions and the ability to identify hazards.
- Ability to operate small hand and power tools and light equipment, autos and pickup trucks.
- Ability to utilize computer software to maintain field and maintenance records.
- Ability and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions and to keep accurate work records.
- Ability and willingness to work well with other employees and the public.
- Ability and willingness to perform strenuous labor tasks under varying weather conditions.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including, weekends and holidays.
- Ability and willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, city staff from other departments, and the public.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of two years’ experience in turf maintenance.
- Must have, or be able to obtain prior to appointment, a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- The possession of or ability to obtain, a current First Aid Card, CPR Certificate.
- Submission to a comprehensive background check.
- Must have, or be able to obtain prior to employment, a motor vehicle driving abstract from Washington State Department of Motor Vehicles.
- The possession of, or ability to obtain, a current WA State Pesticide Applicators License.
