RECREATION INFORMATION OFFICE SUPPORT
$24.00 / hour
SEASONAL 6-MONTH POSITION (Approx. April – September)
This anticipated start date is April 2025.
The City of Everett Parks Department is currently accepting applications for a seasonal Recreation Information Office Support Day Laborer. (This employment is temporary, up to six months in duration). It is mandatory that the employee in this position contribute to the Washington State Public Employees Retirement System. This contribution is refundable upon the employees request at the completion of employment. A work permit fee of $12.00 per pay period must also be paid to AFSCME Local No. 113. These positions are not provided with City of Everett benefits.
NATURE OF WORK
This is general receptionist and clerical work requiring a basic knowledge of and experience with modern office procedures, practices and equipment.
Work involves office support work of a regular and recurring nature following specific and well-established policies, procedures and work standards. Duties may involve different and unrelated processes and methods. Individuals carry out routine assignments independently once procedures are learned and are responsible for their own work product and for maintaining high quality standards. Significant deviations are referred to a supervisor or employee of a higher classification who is normally available to advise or assist as necessary.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Customer Service in person and by telephone providing information relating to the area of assignment such as explaining steps to be taken, necessary documentation, forms required, rates, fees, or other costs.
- Educates customers on Parks and Recreation programs, services, and rental options.
- Researches via CivicRec database, phone calls to other cities, and approved web searches to compile data to help with future pricing, marketing and business plans.
- Maintains simple accounting documents, financial and statistical records where no technical accounting knowledge is needed and following well-established procedures.
- Receives and receipts payments in the form of cash/check or credit card for automated data entry or further clerical processing.
- Processes materials such as forms, applications, records, or documents where specific procedural requirements must be met, and a good understanding of applicable guidelines is necessary.
- Prepares records and documents for filing or archiving.
- Operates standard office machines and equipment including computer terminals with data entry, word processing and spreadsheet capabilities.
- Types documents from various sources to final form; proofreads to insure correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.
- Assists with special events where tasks may be unrelated to the clerical field.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to apply available guidelines to recurring operational requirements.
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, formats, and clerical procedures needed to type and proofread a variety of materials from written sources.
- Ability to proficiently operate computers and other office equipment standard to area of assignment and to adapt to new and/or modified equipment and software programs that may be acquired.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with supervisors, other employees and the general public.
