The City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department is in search of an energetic individual to coordinate recreational activities. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain experience in the field by working on a variety of program areas.
Work will be performed under the general supervision of a Recreation Supervisor. Individual will supervise volunteers and some part time staff. This position will perform related tasks as assigned. The City is an independent city six miles from the nation's capital. It is small in area (2.2 square miles) and population (about 16,000 people). The City is known for its urban village community, quality customer service, nationally ranked school system, environmental activism, and endless community activities.
Responsibilities- Manages Teen Center programs.
- Assists with planning and implementation of summer camps.
- Assists program supervisors with planning programs and events.
- Assists with Community Center operations, including customer service.
- Degree in Recreation and Parks or related field preferred.
- Experience coordinating and programming recreation programs.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook).
- Ability to handle various programs at one time, multi-task and prioritize.
- Must have or obtain within 90 days of hire: First Aid, CPR and Medication Administration Training.
- Must pass drug screen and background checks and possess valid driver's license and good driving record as a condition of employment.
This is a full-time position for 40 hours per week with frequent evenings, weekends, and working holidays.
Salary & BenefitsThe annual salary range starts at $52,000.
