The City of Falls Church is recruiting an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Systems Technician in IT Services. This position will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and participating in the day-to-day management and operations of the City’s IT support service request ticketing system.
This role is entry level and offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and hands-on experience in a fast-paced technology environment.
The City of Falls Church is an independent city six miles from the nation's capital. It is small in area (2.2 square miles) and population (about 16,000 people). The City is known for its urban village community, quality customer service, nationally ranked school system, environmental activism, and endless community activities.
Responsibilities
This position requires strong workstation support skills with key focuses including, but not limited to:
- Tier 1 support for the City staff: addressing software, hardware or network issues.
- Management of the ticketing system, including assigning Tier II requests to members of the IT Services and Support team.
- Setting up and maintaining workstations, including installation and configuration of operating systems and software
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Responsible for procurement, receiving, asset management, deployment and disposal of the City HW and SW assets using IT Services processes and asset management software.
- Other related tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited high school with a minimum of 2 years of directly related professional experience, or graduation an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree and 1½ years or Bachelor’s degree with 1 years directly related professional experience in supporting information systems and computer operations;
- Professional experience showing ability to research problem solutions, coordinate, schedule projects and prioritize work;
- Demonstrating ability to respond to multiple tasks within acceptable time frames, and ability to prepare and maintain accurate reports and records;
- Experience has shown strong configuration and support knowledge of operating systems including, Windows 10 – 11, along with MS Office Suite;
- Also strong understanding of supporting workstation network connectivity over switches on TCP/IP networks;
- Experience with showing the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, customers, the general public, all levels of employees and contractors, to prepare reports and to communicate ideas effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to proactively self-initiate and continually expand professional development of all necessary skillsets, as well as keep abreast of related emerging technologies that would be used from a wide variety of sources (i.e., online resources, self-paced online training, training materials, and some training courses as available);
- CompTia A certification, strongly preferred
- An equivalent combination of relevant training and demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree or certification.
Hours
This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week on site, with on-call rotation. Working hours are the core business hours of 8 AM to 5 PM.
Salary & Benefits
The annual salary range is $65,000 to $75,362 and is dependent on qualifications.
