An Administrative Technician - Youth Programs position is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Department Youth Programs. The Youth Programs include Cadets who are young adults who work part-time and are assigned different functions throughout the police department; the Explorers who are high school students who receive law enforcement training, and the Police Athletic League which provides coaching and mentorship to school-age children through sports activities. The ideal candidate must demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, and possess the ability to coordinate and provide support in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment. A strong focus on organization, time management, customer service, teamwork, and adaptability are essential. This position requires producing high-quality work with minimal supervision, demonstrating a strong sense of accountability and effective self-management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree from an accredited college with major course work in Business, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Office Administration, or related field and two years of clerical and administrative experience.
- Two (2) years of clerical and administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Higher levels of clerical experience as it relates to this vacancy;
- Intermediate proficient in Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel);
- Experience with sworn civil service and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization coupled with the ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality at all times;
The Administrative Technician - Youth Programs job responsibilities include:
- Assist with researching, data tracking, reporting, and monitoring the status and flow of internal processes.
- Draft correspondence and process time-sensitive assignments with strict legal deadlines.
- Respond to and resolve inquiries from internal customers and citizens or direct them to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide staff support to the Building Standards Division, including serving as a backup for various staff positions in their absence.
- Perform a wide variety of clerical, fiscal, and administrative tasks to support staff and management personnel in the assigned area of responsibility.

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class. Final candidates selected for hire in the Police Department will be subject to fingerprint/criminal history background check and polygraph examination, Applicants must not have used marijuana during the previous two (2) years, nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last five (5) years.
