ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Report directly to immediate supervisor, the Swim Instruction Coordinator.Maintain a professional, courteous, and compassionate relationship with all participants and parents.Complete all paperwork required by the Red Cross within the allotted time following each session.Ability to provide all levels of swimming instruction.Responsible for all equipment and supplies belonging to the City and keep storage area, etc. neat and secure.Maintain open communications with all staff, participants and parents of the program.Work cooperatively with all team members and parents involved in program.Assist the coordinator in completing and distributing evaluation forms for program participants.Ensure a safe environment for all participants and staff.Work all assigned hours as designated by supervisor.Perform any other job duties as directed by supervisor.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee is constantly required to remain in the water; to reach items at various depths within the pool, and to constantly position self to maintain access to swimming participants. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pound items. Must be able to observe participants’ swimming skills and abilities and adjust instruction techniques. Employee must be able to work demanding hours in season. WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITION: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly exposed to outside weather conditions, to include temperatures as high as 110 degrees.
