Job Summary:
This is technical and specialized field and office work in fire prevention. Work involves responsibility for enforcement of local and State fire safety codes, laws, and ordinances, and includes inspection of commercial properties to ensure compliance and fire and life safety education. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines, and is reviewed by the fire prevention Division Fire Chief.
Process For consideration, candidates must be:
- a Certified State of Florida Municipal Fire Safety Inspector
- must have certification prior to date of hire listed in this posting* (Candidates enrolled in a State recognized program for Fire Safety Inspector may be considered as outlined below)
- In state and local residents preferred
*In the event that we are unable to fill this position with a certified State of Florida Municipal Fire Safety Inspector candidate, those enrolled in a State recognized program for Fire Safety Inspector, may be considered and must be certified as a State of Florida Municipal Fire Safety Inspector within six (6) months of the date of hire.
**In the event the position is unable to be filled by a Certified Candidate or a Candidate in a recognized Fire Safety Inspector program, Current City employees will be considered to attend Fire Safety Inspector courses to obtain their certified State of Florida Municipal Fire Safety Inspector. These candidates must be Certified as a State of Florida Municipal Fire Safety Inspector within six (6) months of the date of hire.
