Background Check

Job Functions
Essential Functions
- Perform a variety of manual labor tasks including patching streets, finishing concrete flatwork, constructing and cleaning gutters, culverts, catch basins, etc.
- Operate equipment of the Public Works department including hand tools, brush truck, brush chipper.
- Assist with installation traffic control signs and pavement markings on streets and parking areas.
- Collect leaves, trim trees and chip brush.
- Perform other related job duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge
- Working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in street and storm sewer maintenance and repair.
- Ability to safely operate various pieces of heavy equipment.
- Ability to operate in a highly demanding physical environment for an entire day, to include prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending and lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to maintain reliable and consistent attendance and timeliness.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work well with other employees and the general public.
Education, Training and Experience
Experience
- Previous experience in street maintenance or comparable construction work preferred.
