What are the responsibilities and job description for the City Clerk/Finance Director position at The City of Oskaloosa?
Due to retirement, the City of Oskaloosa (pop. 11,558), has an immediate opening for the City Clerk/Finance Director position. This position is appointed by the City Council, and works under the general direction of the City Manager in accomplishing the goals and directives of the City Council. The City Clerk/Finance Director plans, organizes, and directs all financial activities of the City which has a $28 million annual operating and capital budget. This includes long-term financial forecasting, cash and debt management, rate analysis, financial statement preparation, accounting, budget development, payroll, investments, risk management, record-keeping, public meetings and supervision of the city clerk/finance department. Preferred qualifications and skills include considerable experience in public finance administration and completion of a standard high school course, preferably supplemented by college graduation with a degree in accounting, public administration or business administration; or any equivalent combination of experience and training with provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; or completion of the Municipal Clerk’s Institute (3-year program). Starting salary $75K - $110K annual salary. Salary will be dependent upon experience.
