The City of Overland Park has a Part-Time Educational Programs Attendant position available in the Parks and Recreation Department.
JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Facilitates and delivers educational activities at the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Garden, including field trips, tours, birthday parties, classroom activities, community events, public art programming, and self-guided learning experiences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Education Programs Coordinator in the coordination, management, and delivery of educational programs at the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
- Assist in the setup of programs and educational activities within the Arboretum and Botanical Garden software system, which includes marketing and communications, survey and feedback collection.
- Assist with the organization of supplies, materials, and tools for programs and educational activities.
- Assist in the setup and tear down of educational activities.
- Assist with the development, coordination and management of educational spaces and self-directed educational programs.
- Respond to public inquiries on programs and educational activities.
- Assist in the delivery of group tours, which includes initial introductions, orienting groups to the facility, leading groups within a tour, and dismissal of groups.
- Assist in the installation and curation of art within the temporary art display.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. May be asked to work when education programs are offered, which may include daytime hours, nighttime hours, or weekend.
- The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic high school education (Must be 16 years of age).
EXPERIENCE:
- This is an entry level position, no previous experience is needed.
- Use of and basic skills in Google doc, sheets, and other google based software are required.
- Teaching background or customer service is preferred.
