Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of financial software and payroll management systems, as well as excellent data entry skills. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining employee records, processing payroll, and administering benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Maintain employee records in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, and changes to employee status.
  • Administer benefits programs and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Utilize financial software for payroll processing and reporting.
  • Serves as Technology (IT) liaison for City Departments
  • Perform data entry tasks related to payroll and benefits administration.
  • Collaborate with the accounting department to reconcile payroll accounts with the general ledger.
  • Prepare reports on payroll metrics and assist with audits as needed.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in payroll management or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in financial software applications (e.g., Paychex, ADP, PeopleSoft).
  • Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of benefits administration processes.
  • Familiarity with general ledger accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information.
  • A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Pay: $49,898.00 - $60,000.00 per year
