Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining employee records, processing payroll, and administering benefits.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain employee records in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, and changes to employee status.
- Administer benefits programs and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Utilize financial software for payroll processing and reporting.
- Serves as Technology (IT) liaison for City Departments
- Perform data entry tasks related to payroll and benefits administration.
- Collaborate with the accounting department to reconcile payroll accounts with the general ledger.
- Prepare reports on payroll metrics and assist with audits as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll management or a similar role.
- Proficiency in financial software applications (e.g., Paychex, ADP, PeopleSoft).
- Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail.
- Knowledge of benefits administration processes.
- Familiarity with general ledger accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information.
- A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
