York College, founded in 1966, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. The College also offers six graduate programs: Aviation Management, Clinical Trials Management, Pharmaceutical Science and Business, Physician Assistant, Social Work and Nursing Education.

Reporting to the Department Chair, the primary role of the Undergraduate Program Director is to provide leadership and oversight for the daily operations of the (2) Undergraduate Nursing offerings (RN-BSN and the Generic BSN Programs), including contributing directly to expanded enrollment in the Nursing Programs.

Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

Review admission policies; create data bases for pre-RN to BSN, pre-generic, RN to BSN and generic student populations. Review advisement process and forms; ensure adequate advisement coverage. Communicate to students needed forms/ documentation/ processes for clinical courses. Arrange student orientation upon admission to nursing curricula. Monitor student progress/ retention; review admission and retention criteria based on student progress and make relevant changes. Revise nursing student handbook and ensure it is posted on web.

Student learning experiences: Clinical Ensure that clinical experiences are appropriate to achieve student learning outcomes; develop clinical evaluation tools. Ensure that the agencies are appropriately credentialed; and that contracts are current for each site. Review RN to BSN clinical experiences based on student learning outcomes and secure new sites as needed. Campus labs/ simulations: determine needed lab experiences; develop content/ evaluations for each lab in coordination with the Clinical Professor, Simulation Coordinator. Lectures: review- with faculty course content; compare to student and program learning outcomes; move content as needed.

  • Maintaining and enhancing the academic quality of the program through facilitating regular review and assessment of its curriculum
  • Monitoring the program budget and developing a program budget requests as needed
  • Working collaboratively with the Department Chair to create the annual budget request
  • Submitting program course schedules to the Registrar
  • Managing the program to ensure course coverage, and proposing changes to the program curriculum as needed
  • Processing paperwork for various committees and offices
  • Responding to student petitions, degree applications, complaints, requests, etc. in conjunction with the chair
  • Conducting periodic program reviews
  • Organizing and presiding at program meetings
  • Representing the program at admissions events and actively recruit students for the undergraduate programs

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Nursing and RN License (New York State) required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully at the clinical and post-secondary level, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

The Following Qualifications Are Highly Preferred

  • Ph.D. in nursing or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years or more of teaching in at least one nursing specialty.
  • Five years of clinical experience in nursing.
  • Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Office, Blackboard, and computer programs

$86,645 - $93,134 -Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
