Bronx Community College seeks a Bursar Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Process tuition payments, fees, and other financial transactions for students and third-party payers.
- Provide students with accurate account information and resolve inquiries related to balances, holds, and payment options.
- Assist in the collection of overdue balances, including setting up payment plans.
- Generate student bills and distribute them in a timely manner.
- Process payments made via cash, credit card, checks, and online payment systems.
- Reconcile daily transactions and prepare financial reports for the Bursar and CUNY administration
- Work closely with the financial aid office to ensure accurate application of scholarships, grants, and loans to student accounts.
- Liaise with the registrar’s office to manage tuition and fee adjustments based on enrollment changes (add/drop/withdrawals).
- Ensure adherence to CUNY Cash Accountability Policy and BCC policies and procedures regarding student financial accounts.
- Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA regulations
- Provide exceptional service to students, parents, faculty, and staff, addressing inquiries and resolving concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Educate students on payment deadlines, financial aid disbursement schedules, and options for managing outstanding balances.
- Utilize CUNYFirst and other student information systems to manage student accounts and process transactions.
- Maintain accurate data entry for all financial records and assist in troubleshooting system issues as needed.
- Required to work evening hours.
- Provides information, as directed, to faculty, students, employees, and the general public.
- Responds to routine inquiries regarding departmental affairs.
- Answers telephone calls; screens incoming calls and forwards/refers calls.
Bachelor's Degree required.

Provides operational support for a College student accounts function.
- Performs processing, collection, reconciliation and maintenance of student receivables
- Counsels students in meeting college financial obligations including current tuition, prior receivables and methods of payment; responds to student account inquiries
- Maintains revenue files; prepares reports as required
- Assists in the review of student accounts; identifies and reports delinquent accounts
- May assist in the evaluation and verification of student eligibility for various loans and grants
- Provides support to ensure the smooth flow of business operations and completion of required administrative tasks within the office; may supervise clerical and/or part-time staff
- Performs related duties as assigned.
