- Communicating with technology users and staff to understand, identify, document and resolve problems
- Performing simple repairs to computing and related equipment.

Reporting to the Assistant Professor of Library Resources The IT Support Assistant Hourly will perform the following duties:
- Technical Support : Assisting students, faculty, and staff with technical issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Maintenance : Performing routine maintenance on computer systems, printers, and other technological equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshooting : Diagnosing and resolving technical problems, escalating complex issues to higher-level IT staff when necessary.
- User Assistance : Providing guidance on the use of various software applications and tools commonly used within the college.
- Documentation : Maintaining records of technical issues and solutions to help in future problem-solving and to track recurring issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Certifications
- CompTIA A (for hardware and software support)
- CompTIA Network (for networking fundamentals)
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
- Google IT Support Professional Certificate
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas)
- Experience supporting faculty, staff, and students in a university environment
- Knowledge of student information systems (e.g., CUNYfirst, PeopleSoft)
- Strong communication skills for assisting non-technical users
- Experience working at an IT help desk in an academic setting
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to faculty and students
- Experience diagnosing and resolving issues with Windows and macOS
- Familiarity with troubleshooting network connectivity in campus environments
- Knowledge of software installation and remote desktop support
- Experience with IT asset management tools
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
- Familiarity with audiovisual technology used in classrooms and conference rooms
- Experience collaborating with IT teams on system upgrades and maintenance
- Ability to train users on new software and technology resources
- Ability to lift and transport IT equipment
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if required
