The Department ofNursingis currently housed in the School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing (HS2N). The School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing currently includes six departments: Exercise Science and Recreation (EXR), Health Equity, Administration and Technology (HEAT), Health Promotion and Nutrition Sciences (HPNS); Social Work; Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, and Nursing. The school is also home to the CUNY Institute for Health Equity. Departments in the School actively engage with community and government partners to support evidence-based practices and health equity, with a special emphasis on urban populations. The faculty are also strongly committed to high quality teaching and preparation of ethical and skilled health and human service professionals.
The Department of Nursing invites applications for two (2) full-time Simulation Operation Coordinator positions beginning in Spring or Summer 2025. These positions report directly to the Deputy Chair.Workhours of these positions will be set based on the needs of the nursing department and the arrangement of class schedules and may cross shifts to cover classes in the evenings. Candidates must have a strong commitment to support nursing faculty for all healthcare simulation operations and work closely with nursing and health science faculty to ensure best practice in healthcare simulationsareused to enhance student learning. This position provides essential technical and audio/visual support for healthcare simulation operations and technology including preparation, maintenance and repair of complex computerized systems and associate software, the operation of the data capture system, the related multimedia, and data collection. The position must be able to setup, breakdown, troubleshoot, identify problems and take action to resolve simulation issues in a fast-paced learning environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a relevantfield, such as Biology, Chemistry, Pre-med, Neuroscience, Exercise Physiology, Nursing, Allied Health,etc.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
Demonstrated knowledge of human anatomy
Demonstrated knowledge of human physiology
Ability to lift/carry/maneuver equipment weighing 25lbs. up to 100lbs (when required)
Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or
Commitment to obtain Certified Healthcare Simulation Operation Specialist (CHSOS) within two (2) years of hire
Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required
Provides support to students and faculty in the use of instructional systems, software, and programs.

This Position Requires The Following
- Partnering with the nursing faculty in the simulation center to develop healthcare; simulation experiences that utilize state-of-the-art facility, equipment, technology to achieve the educational goals and objectives of the Department of Nursing;
- Assist faculty, staff and students in all healthcare simulation events, this may include assist in proctoring in the simulation or computer laboratory area;
- Assist with virtual simulation facilitation and support and training faculty on clinical simulation equipment to include preparation and application of moulage to standardized patients and simulators;
- Support faculty in the implementation phase of patient care scenarios, innovative education techniques, use of equipment necessary for all simulated patient experiences;
- Oversee equipment setup and breakdown including setting patient simulators, task trainers, hospital equipment, supplies, and audiovisual equipment;
- Program simulator software changes and operate software during simulation activities, either without or with program scenarios;
- Provide audiovisual support for simulation experiences including primarily used for live streaming and reviewing simulation activities, video production equipment, computer-based multimedia systems and their components, digital cameras, video cameras, audio/video mixer, and monitors;
- Troubleshoot electrical or networking issues (within warranty guidelines) including auditing and testing all healthcare simulation equipment and systems according to current specification requirements which includes necessary assessments and maintenance of simulators and task trainings with regular cleaning, and replacement of disposable parts including updates and emergency repairs;
- Provide technical support and maintenance for healthcare simulation technologies including but not limited to, 1) Beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other healthcare equipment, 2) Medication dispensing systems, and 3) vital sign monitors;
- Attendprofessional development meetings to maintain personal knowledge, expertise and currency with clinical simulation technology and use.
Qualifications

- Clinical knowledge and experience working in a healthcare field such as allied health profession certification and training, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Fundamental knowledge of computer hardware and software
- Able to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical person
