The Student Career Advisor-Sr is responsible for managing relationships with both students and employers to ensure that Bronx Community College graduates are a key talent source for local hiring needs, aligned with our degree and training programs. This role is an excellent opportunity for a professional with experience supporting jobseekers—especially those who are entry-level, new to their fields, or face barriers to employment—and a passion for continuously learning about new industries, technologies, and best practices in career services within community colleges.
The Student Career Advisor-Sr will report to the Director of Career Development within Workforce Development and Continuing Education, part of the Office of Academic Affairs. This position involves managing a caseload of students while actively contributing to a highly collaborative team.
On a typical week, the Student Career Advisor-Sr can expect to:
Bachelor's Degree and four years related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Provides student career assessment and counseling and provides comprehensive career services programs.

$52,276 -$90,375 ; Salary commensurate with education and experience.

On a typical week, the Student Career Advisor-Sr can expect to:
- Meet one-on-one with a caseload of students to assist with career exploration, resume reviews, and job application processes.
- Coordinate and oversee the internship and job placement efforts for students in business, finance, accounting, and related fields, working with them individually and in small groups to facilitate job placement.
- Create and deliver workshops in collaboration with various campus programs and courses to support student career development.
- Serve as a liaison between industry representatives, senior alumni, and faculty to help refine curricula and co-curricular activities that enhance student career readiness.
- Develop and expand a network of employer partners to increase paid internships and competitive job opportunities for BCC students and recent graduates.
- Organize and execute career-related events for students and employers, both on and off-campus.
- Track and report outcomes in alignment with team goals and objectives.
- Research and provide insights on emerging best practices and new standards from groups such as NACE.
Bachelor's Degree and four years related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting entry-level jobseekers, especially first-generation or foreign-born college students.
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and take ownership of tasks.
- Proven track record as a diligent, organized, self-starter who can adapt to change as needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a passion for mentoring others to succeed.
Provides student career assessment and counseling and provides comprehensive career services programs.
- Provides employment and career counseling to students; may provide services to alumni
- Administers and interprets career and vocational assessment instruments
- Prepares and facilities workshops on career development topics such as job search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, and interviewing techniques
- Develops and maintains relationships with employers that can lead to recruitment and hiring at the campus
- Assists with planning and presenting career fairs, speakers, employer visits, and other events
- Collaborates with faculty and student support service professionals to offer specialized programs and activities
- Trains and supervises interns and office staff
- Performs other duties as assigned.
