Hunter College Counseling & Wellness Services (CWS) supports students’ academic, social, and emotional success through the provision of mental health services on campus. This fast-paced service provides assessment, counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, outreach, and referral to enrolled students. CWS also provides consultation services to faculty and staff, along with a host of campus outreach programming to help promote mental health awareness on campus.
CWS seeks a professional, reliable Student Wellness Specialistwho can oversee the day-to-day operations of the Service. The Student Wellness Specialistserves as the initial point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and the public, andworks with faculty and staff to support student wellness via consultation, psychoeducation, and workshops.
Duties
The Student Wellness Specialist will report to the Student Counseling Director. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Student Wellness Specialist will be responsible for the following duties:
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

Salary commensurate with education and experience, $62,411-$72,667 .

Duties
The Student Wellness Specialist will report to the Student Counseling Director. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Student Wellness Specialist will be responsible for the following duties:
- Triages student requests- responds to student calls, emails, and walk-ins, identifies emergent requests, alerts and assigns clinical staff.
- Receives information from faculty, staff, and public safety regarding students in crisis, advises as to appropriate intervention, conveys information to clinical staff.
- Serves as initial contact during intake assessment, including providing psychoeducation to students, faculty, and staff about mental health services.
- Supports students in crisis while they are in reception, and while clinical staff is consulting. Employs deescalate techniques as needed.
- Creates and manages all aspects of CWS’ schedule, including clinical assignments.
- Trains all new counselors, part-time staff, and clinical interns on administrative procedures of CWS, and use and maintain of Electronic Medical Record.
- Creates and furbishes referrals for community agencies on behalf of clinical staff.
- Responds to faculty and staff requests for consultation; provides feedback and information about CWS procedures.
- Assists in survey administration/data collection and data analysis regarding mental health outcomes of students.
- Assists in the development and implementation of psychoeducational workshops.
- Participates in the Behavioral Response Team. Provides information and feedback to faculty and staff about BRT procedures and outreaches to students. Administers surveys to faculty, staff, and students to inform BRT interventions.
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a mental health setting preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in deescalating students in distress.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Develops and administers wellness programs and communications to serve student needs
- Works with colleagues in various departments to coordinate, develop and implement wellness programs, workshops, and activities
- Conduct assessments and need analysis relative to the wellness needs of students and tracks progress
- Prepares and administers surveys, statistical data and reports relative to the physical/wellness needs of students
- May maintain websites and produce written materials to promote student wellness related activities
- Performs related duties as assigned.
